Creative Playthings Discovery of the Month™ Series 1 – Mirrors

The Discovery of the Month™ series were science, arts, and craft projects that were mailed to subscription holders. Each series had 6 project kits that were mailed monthly.

Series 1 (W240) was introduced in 1964 and continued through 1970. Projects included experiments with seeds, mirrors, gears, shadows, papermaking and projectors.

Series 2 (W241) was only available through the 1966 catalog and contained projects that were patterned after school laboratory projects. There was a balance scale (Kit No.3) and a hydraulic pump (Kit No.4). Other projects dealt with battery powered motors, switches, optical benches, and pinhole cameras.

Series 3 (W242) was introduced in 1967 catalog and aimed at older children. Projects included building and construction (a 5ft suspension bridge), the color spectrum, a model solar system, optical illusions, pendulum motions, and a musical instrument.
